New Year Greeting Messages for the year of 2004 around the world.

Dear URMPM world members,

A year of 2004 is the 3rd active year of URMPM, which is important to establish the direction of our worldwide activity.  For this purpose, this year has a couple of international conferences in Russia, Costa Rica, Ukraine, Japan and Malaysia, in addition to 2 types of academic journals; ‘HEALTH’ and ‘JOURNAL OF MEDICAL SAFETY’.

Good news is that we got 300 new members throughout 2003, while a number of the present world members are up to 900.  ‘A member’s number is not important, existence of active professionals is important.’ As this golden statement by a founder (Dougen) of some Japanese Buddhism over 800 years ago, the score of current URMPM members is small, but they consists of over 300 leading professors and 100 leading directors around the world, as you can see several samples of the following world members.

The URMPM was born in the beginning of 21 century, and this society will clearly exist beyond century, since it is a good partner of risk assessment science.  All of you are on this new scientific wave.

Prof. Ryoji Sakai, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, etc.

  URMPM Chair

Dear All. I wish you all the best for the New Year, in particular good health to you and your family and much success with the URMPM meetings. Best regards,

Prof. Stephan Morgenthaler, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Lausanne

Let me express my hope that in the coming year 2004 we will keep on working together in favor of decent quality of life and sustainable development all over the World. See you 2004-year conference in Dubna, Russia.

Dear colleagues,
I consider that the world community can estimate the historical event; creation of URMPM - at the true worth, as the objectives are noble, and the ideas are directed towards increasing of the people’s life quality. The first conferences in
Tokyo and Kyoto were the bright events in the activity of well-known scientists and experts, dealing with problems of risk management for preventive medicine. The great services related thereto were rendered by URMPM Chair, Ryoji Sakai and URMPM President, Stephan Morgenthaler. New meetings and contacts are yet to come, and we’ll move on the way of decreasing the degree of risk for people living in our planet.
On behalf of the Ukrainian Society of Risk Management for Preventive Medicine, I’d like to congratulate heartily all the URMPM members on the New Year, and wish sound health and great happiness!
Prof. Alexander Pivovarov,
Ukrainian State Chemical-Technology University, Ukraine

  UKRSRMPM Chairperson

Dear colleagues and friends:

A new year is a reflection time, when we think what we have carried out as what we should carry out.

When making this balance, the hope of better year, the hope of carrying out the things better, gives us strength to begin with new mettles the pending work.

During the last year we afforded preparation of a world level event that have made us to be horrified, but also mated in a collection like never before had been seen.

The problems of the smallest and remote place on the planet are now of interest and world knowledge, thanks to the work of press means information. The effects of these problems concern equally to all, in what we would call a new world conscience.

Our small country is shyness integrated with to the great world family, showing with pride its achievements in health, education and development, but mainly for the peace of a peaceful coexistence, where the abolition of the army and the oldest uninterrupted democracy in the Latin America are the heraldries that we show as presentation.

This year that begins, we will have our conference of the URMPM in our country, with the one we seek the bases for the development and introduction of the URMPM in our continent, and where we expect your attendance with great joy.

We want to wish you all, the best things for this year that begins, but more important is to wish for you and your families the health and the strength to be able to develop all the projects that have intended, God blesses to you and your families, as same to this new one “Global Village”.

Dr. Jorge Cortes Rodriguez, Hospital Clinica Biblica, Costa Rica

President of 1st Pan American Society Congress

A Happy New Year to all URMPM members!

The year 2003 was exciting for us all. Since I was not involved in the preparations it was with great curiosity I went to the Toyo Conference in March. What I found was a meeting with a lot of creativity which takes place when people from many disciplines meet. I know that this does not takes place by itself and for cross-disciplinary events the organisation is especially challenging. It is therefore with great pleasure I thank the organizers for a very successful event! Now I look forward to the Costa Rica conference in April 2004 with the important theme "Advances in Health Risk Management Strategy and Decision Science".
To establish URMPM with all its network must have been a tremendous task for Prof Sakai. I wish to congratulate him for all the progress in 2003 and I look forward to an equally successful continuation. The concept of "risk management and preventive medicine" to me seems very timely and I have great hope for the future.
I also want to thank Shirley Chaves for her kind approach to keep us all so well informed on the development, coming meetings, deadlines etc.

President of the 2nd Atlantic Congress

Dear All,

The year 2003 was a most remarkable year to say the list. The global impact of the emergence of SARS Coronarvirus infections has shown us the future in terms of the "shrinking world". It should further highlight the need for advance and well-planned contingency plans and risk analysis studies in all areas of the world as events in any one area can now have far-reaching impact on other areas of enterprise as well as other geographical areas. I am sure you will all agree that the work of Professor Sakai with the able and tireless support of Shirley has been invaluable in the activities of URMPM.

May I also take this opportunity to wish all members a successful and fruitful new year.

Yours sincerely   Dr. Philip Beh, The University of Hong Kong
